UCLA Regents Invitation for Transfers 2014

I’m trying to submit my application but it says my Letter of Rec isn’t in PDF format, but it is! Anyone know how I can fix this problem?

EDIT: I was able to fix it. The file name was just too long, so I had to shorten it.

Oh my, that essay turned out to be a much bigger ordeal than I originally thought it would be. It’s hard being concise enough to fit the 300 word limit.
That being said, my application is finished. I’m not expecting much, but at least I gave it a try

@Freetofly112 Same here. No expecting much. But I was having a difficult time coming up with things to write about. 250 words is the max.

@lkm291 What do you mean by “250 words is the max”? If you’re referring to the prompt, I’m pretty sure it reads:
“What do you hope to accomplish after you complete your academic career and how do you think your goals will impact society? (300 word maximum)”.

Quick question: Does anyone know if UCLA nominated based on GPA alone or if they took your Personal Statement into account?

Thanks.

I know I’m probably over thinking this but I submitted my Regents app yesterday but didn’t print or take a screen shot of the confirmation and because I was insanely paranoid that something went wrong I just went back into the application, re-read everything and re-submitted it.

I feel like that might have been a stupid move because they can see I (re)submitted it last minute :frowning:
And that might make me look irresponsible and like a bad candidate…
As you all can tell I don’t handle stress very well :p

Either way its all over now and it is out of my hands.
Good luck us you all!

No matter the outcome getting a regents nomination is no small feat so we should all be proud :D

A tip for any one who wants to keep a record of their receipt. You can open the prompt to print on your browser and change your destination to “Save as PDF” instead of your printer. Not sure if it’s the same for macs and non-chrome browsers though.

@derrpy What i meant was that I can only come up with 250 words

@lkm291 After my post, I realized that you probably meant that :p

@Anthroflo Hahah if they look that closely into our submission times, then I wonder what they must think of me. My most recent receipt says they received my application right at 11:59, with a couple dozen seconds to spare.

:3

Will they inform us if we didn’t get chosen?

I felt so bad asking for a letter with only a few days for them to write it @nowworried‌

I have a quick question about the second alumni scholarship essay. For that essay topic we write as if we had just written the autobiography correct? So if I’m 20 then I write about something that happened in the last couple years.

Someone brought to my attention that the esssay prompt could be interpreted in a different way so I just wanted to double check.

:)

@Lilyblue12‌ What’s the second alumni scholarship essay? Does that have anything relevance to the regent scholarship?

It’s some like write your essay as if you’re writing page 160ish of a 200 page autobiography. completely different from the Regents stuff

did you gets get notified of the regents scholarship with your admission offer today??

Sorry I didn’t mean to confuse people. It’s a different UCLA scholarship. There isn’t a thread for it so I thought I would ask here, but I’ll just call UCLA on Monday.

@Lilyblue12‌ Were u able to get an answer? I actually have the same question.

@Otterpopp‌

I was told by a UCLA transfer rep. that notifications for Regents scholarships would be delayed because the financial aid department sent out invitations later than usual this time around.

She said we should hear no later than two weeks after our admission. But then again she also told me we would be notified about admission until next week and thankfully she was wrong about that.

If I already got my provisional award letter does that mean I didn’t get it?
