UCLA Reject

@Spiritz: Yes, I think that is the number: (310) 825-3101 - don’t hold me to this, though! From what I read last year, if you just get students, keep calling until you have somebody that will look into it and tell you the exact reason for their decision. The successful appeals I read about in past threads were things along the lines of UCLA not counting a course as a pre-req (even though it was), courses being renamed and therefore not being counted, a course being entered wrong, etc. Off the top of my head, I remember emilsinclair9 successfully appealed to UCLA - maybe shoot her a PM! :)

Yes, call their admissions office and ask for specifics. Make sure that you or they did not make any mistakes. And look over you apps again, you never know what you could find. Everyone unsure of why they could denied should do this.

Even if you don’t get in there after the appeal, just try again for grad school. Getting your phd/masters at Ucla is much more impressive than undergrad.

Sorry, this is kind of off topic, but did your URSA change at all, despite getting rejected?
I’m going crazy right now, since I haven’t gotten a decision made yet. ):

@thiscannotbe: I didn’t file fafsa.

@vincent vega: :/

I was wondering how many columns you have in URSA. :/

@thiscannotbe, column numbers mean nothing

@justinetruant: oh dear.

@thiscannotbe: no banner, no fafsa, unsure of status from housing app

@spiritz - gah, thanks. i hope your appeal goes well. let us know what they say when you call them. ):

I am sad too… I just heard that someone got in with same GPA and same major. I also have TAP certificate and still got reject…

I am feeling that numb feeling you feel as well.

First you’ll want to call and ask for an exact reason why you were denied. If it’s something that’s not a technical error then you should appeal. Do this even if you feel like your chance is low. Just know that if you don’t at least try, then your chance of getting admitted is precisely zero.

Here’s an interesting story. A person on this forum with the name Supa_Ramga was denied to UCLA biz-econ but was able to make a succesful appeal. He merely argued that he would be a better fit as a math/econ major (unimpacted major) and was somehow allowed into UCLA. I’m not sure how he wrote his letter, but clearly there’s a way to ask for and be accepted into a major different than the one you applied for.

note: Here’s a topic I found where he discusses his appeal:
http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/uc-transfers/709732-official-ucla-appeal-roll-call-responses-23.html

Apparently he included something like letters of recommendation. I’m not sure how it works to create an appeal package but at least this should give you hope that it’s possible.

I was also got rejected a few hours ago (5:51pm). After I was driving miles and couldnt get into a restaurant (they told me to wait for 2 hours) then came back to the one near my house (silly me), while I was eating, i just felt something wrong so i checked my email and saw a rejection letter of ucla. I was so sad and cried my eyeballs out. I tried to get into Biz Econ, TAP, all pre-req filled, 3.74 GPA (i know its not high but i saw ones with 3.4 getting in). No EC. I think I got a decent/above avg essay. I was admitted into UCI a bit early (march 7th) and ucsd (march 20th) and i waited another month just to find out i got rejected from ucla. :(((… Sorry for the rant…i was jus so upset and don’t know what to do…
