UCLA TAP question (for next year)

This just popped into my head, perhaps someone can help me out with this one.

If someone begins a TAG contract intending to complete 15 Units of honors courses- but doesn't complete all 15 after being offered admission, is the admission revoked? How does that work?

depends on the the school. my schools tap program requires you to finish ALL 15 honor courses by fall before transfer so that doesnt happen. but i can def assume that you will get revoked if you dont keep to your TAP contract

Yeah, mine is weird. But i guess cool, because I am just now going to start the contract, and I have to have at least 7 Honors units in the fall to be flagged as a TAG student and complete the remaining honors units in the spring.

I don’t know if i’ll need it for Anthropology, though, based on all of those acceptances! Ha :D

yes, anthro is one of the easier majors to get into.
btw, uclas transfer priority program is called TAP as it is not “guaranteed”. other ucs call it TAG.

Oh, yeah. I have a TAG with UCSD already. Thats why I was wondering about the basis of admission under TAP. Thanks!

at my school they officially certify the TAP thing (have you sign the papers, send them in etc) around march of your last semester (when spring semester has already begun), so if even with your spring classes you don’t fulfill the TAP reqs then they don’t have you complete the paperwork, then you are not certified :(

I’d assume that if you don’t complete what you told any school what you were planning to complete, like some sort of transfer program like TAP/TAG, they’d rescind your admit status.

So am I good if I complete TAP by my last spring semester before I transfer? I definitely won’t have it done by this fall when I send in my application.

Game_theory- I talked to a counselor today to clear this all up. While it varies by school, this is how it is at San Diego City College:

You have until Spring of the year before you transfer (so, I’m planning on transferring Fall of 2010, so spring 2010) to complete the Honors units. You have to have at Least 6 done during the fall semester, and be finished with them by the sping.

My other question, about the admission being revoked- The answer is Not exactly. You get placed back into the applicant pool, and have the same shot over other applicants. I think I am going to go along with the TAP, even though my major (Anthropology) isn’t as competitive as some of the others.
