Hi. I got into both UCLA and JHU. Im interested in pursuing premed. Which school do you recommend? In terms of getting good grades and many other aspects (social life, atmosphere, etc), which school do you recommend for premed student?
Thanks!

go to jhu if you want to end up committing suicide.

JHU is obviously better. This is what the school is famous for, after all. Only go to UCLA if you’re concerned with budget.

It’s famous for preparing pre-meds?

yeah its med school has been ranked top 3 in the nation for the past many years. However, for undergrad, its probably a little bit better than UCLA. Even so, JHU is socially depressing. Everyone is stressed, no parties and the weather will make you want to die. UCLA is the complete opposite. I’m at ucla at the moment and its beautiful here and everyone seems to be happy. It doesnt matter too much where you go for undergrad as long as you do well. Dont be foolish by going to JHU.

and also, you’ll be spending almost twice as much money to go to JHU. Will you get twice the experience? Definitely not. Maybe even less.

If professors have to choose between their students and their research, it’s definitely the latter than the former at JHU and it’s a rarity that any JHU undergraduate gets accepted to their medical school. UCLA is #6 in terms of biological/medical sciences compared to JHU, which is #2-3, depending on the year we’re talking about so there’s very little difference. The atmosphere around JHU is also extremely dangerous. There’s a lot of gang activity around that area whereas UCLA is a bit more safer. And like UChicago, JHU is where fun comes to die. I suggest UCLA over JHU. You get twice the experience with half the money.

I don’t know about that. Have you been on Bruin Walk? Have you seen those Asian gangsters? They are always mean muggin’!

That can be viewed in two ways. The inverse would be most UCLA professors are not professional enough to have research to conduct! (Which is a tad bit true…)
