These are my only schools to choose from and I have ups and downs about each. I feel like whichever college i pick will be a bittersweet decision. I got in L&S but I want to change into Engineering after my first semester or quarter. I'm also wondering if UCLA is easier than UC Berkeley... My biggest contemplation is that UCLA will give me a better college experience but UC Berkeley will set me up in the future better. So can anyone introduce/suggest/explain to me which school might suit me best?

I live in Socal so most of my friends would be close. UC Berkeley feels like a school that will help me tremendously in finding a first job or into grad school. Also, Berkeley has some of the best engineering programs. UCLA however offered me a huge scholarship. Berkeley would not be much either but i would have 5000 of loans a year after work study. I like the advancement of the UCLA campus and really dislike the Berkeley environment. There are so much more things I am considering but really cant make a proper decision so please help :[

Academically both are roughly the same the only difference being that Berkeley focuses on buisness while UCLA is more focused on science. I live in SoCal too and trust me both UCLA and Berkeley have a prestigious name. Personally I would go for UCLA as the less debt you graduate with the better

UCLA is not easier than Berkeley. UCLA will not give you a better college experience. Cal will not set you up “better.” Both are great, but different. If you don’t like the Berkeley environment, don’t go there. Simple.

IMO, that is a negative. Much better to “go away” to college; but that is a personal choice, too.

The odds of that transfer happening at either campus are really slim. Transfer slots are saved for juco transfers.

Yeah i agree, you should go with fit. Berkeley’s prestige may have slightly more clout than UCLA, but ultimately it will fall on the student. And any student who can be successful at berkeley can be successful at UCLA, and vice versa. (Although, i should note that if you liked UCLA better, you should probably go there, since you’ll have an easier time at the university where you’re happier.)

Many people struggle with the UCLA/Berkeley decision annually, since many get into both. But you look like you clearly want to go to UCLA.
