UCLA vs UCSD vs USC vs Michigan Ann Arbor

i have visited many sites where these universitys are ranked...i just wnted to know which university is the best for undergrad engineering...mechanical or electircal..or it would be more helpful if someone ranked these universitys...thank you

i'm taking a guess

ucsd
michigan
ucla
usc

I'm just taking another guess. Keep in mind this is undergrad.

USC
Michigan
UCSD
UCLA

These are all excellent schools, and all very different. I suggest you don't base your decision on simple rankings.

Umm, what?

Michigan easily tops this list.... overall and especially for engineering. UCLA follows closely behind overall.

I'm not sure where the rest rank for engineering but they're not even close to UMich.

Michigan, USC, UCSD, UCLA. in that order, Michigan a clear choice.

"Michigan easily tops this list.... overall and especially for engineering. UCLA follows closely behind overall."

Let's do some more research on this, k?

For electrical engineering:

Michigan
UCLA
USC
UCSD

For undergrad engineering:

Michigan
USC
UCSD
UCLA

At the undergraduate level, Michigan is clearly the best of the 4 in Engineering. Michigan is generally ranked between #5 and #8 in undergraduate Engineering. I have not seen any of the other three ranked in the top 20. In electrical specifically, Michigan is generally considered top 5 whereas the other three are usually ranked out of the top 10. In Mechanical Engineering, Michigan is usually ranked in the top 5 too, whereas the others are generally not considered top 20.

So if engineering rankings and reputation are what you are looking for, go for Michigan.

According to the last USNWR, here are their national rankings, at the undergraduate level:

ENGINEERING OVERALL
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor #7
University of California-Los Angeles #22
University of California-San Diego #22
University of Southern California #22

ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING:
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor #5
University of California-Los Angeles #13
University of Southern California #15
University of California-San Diego #19

MECHANICAL ENGINEERING:
University of Michigan-Ann Arbor #2
University of California-San Diego #21
University of California-Los Angeles not ranked among the top 30
University of Southern California not ranked among the top 30.

"Let's do some more research on this, k?"

There, Alexandre did it for me.

Besides, those even remotely familiar with universities would immediately point to Michigan for engineering out of those in that list.

I was referring your mention of UCLA as second.
