agh, i'm awfully vague - sorry about any confusion!

but what i meant that there just seems to be a lot of UC alums in general - and in my sister's particular year, a lot of UCLA alums - at UCSF pharm in the class of 122. of course, i don't have real statistics and the school will claim it won't give to priority to californian students - but it's just a general impression.

some real advice from my sis: she suggests going to the place that you think would allow you to get the best gpa, the best relationships with professors (for rec letters), and the best connections to the health care or pharmaceutical industry since the competition for spots is pretty bloody.

btw, have you heard of sd's 7 year b.s./pharm.d program? if you feel like saving a year (and working your butt off in your 3rd/4th year, haha), then sd would obviously be the better option.

skyline: Thanks for asking your sister! I don't think I really have much of a choice because UCLA and USC are very close academically, in my opinion. I've been hearing that at USC, the profs are generally nicer and willing to talk to you. I'm assuming that connections to the pharmaceutical industry will exist through the profs, no?

I actually have heard about UCSD's 7 year program, but if I recall correctly, it's still in its infancy. Probably no more than 5 years old. Also, not to put SD down, but I don't see SD ranked in the top ~50 schools for pharmacy. USC has this program too, but I didn't apply.

first of all, UCLA is in a much nicer and safer environment, USC is kinda in the ghetto (my bfs bro went there)

HOWEVER, USC is a private school, and even though it IS still big, you are much more likely to attain financial aid and possibly more attention from your professors

speaking of usc, my cousin, another pharm student (yeah, my family has tons of them...my friend has dubbed us the pharmacist mafia!) mentioned something about a professor or counselor at usc who has some pretty nice connections to corporations in the area. it might not be as highly rated as the ucs in bio, but it's still a very, very good school.

so do you guys know where your decisions are going? i think i'm actually leaning towards LA...but sd is so beautiful...

im so confused! i dont think im actually in the honors program...oh heck i need to call cus my letter specifically says the fifteeth and i dont wanna drive four hours for nothing
