I know I should have done this earlier but I thought that by now, I would be leaning towards one school more than the other. To begin with, I wanted to mention that I'm not a big fan of the whole Trojan vs bruins rivalry - it has no effect on my decision. To give you some stats about me. I go to a small private catholic school, my university gpa was a 4.78 and my act was a 31. I'm involved in extracurriculars and what not. Long story short I was admitted to UCLA for the fall and USC for the spring. Money wise, I'd have to pay 11 grand at UCLA a year and 14 grand at USC which isn't that big of a difference. I would greatly appreciate if anyone could give me feedback on the schools based upon research or experience. Maybe in reference to education (how classes and professors are, difficulty in finding classes), social life, living on campus, etc... I know this is just undergrad studies but I really would appreciate some insight. Thanks! I got accepted into Bio at both colleges.

Academics will likely be the same, although USC will have smaller class sizes.

UCLA is in a better neighborhood, and closer to the nicer parts of the city. (Santa Monica, Century City, Brentwood, West LA, etc.) USC’s updating a lot of the neighborhood and making it way better looking. The expo line is a nice addition too, and will take you straight from USC to the beach when it’s completed. They’re also planning on doing a completely redevelopment of The Village. But the former won’t be done until you’re at least a senior (or after you graduate) and the latter won’t be done till who knows when.

Although the expo line isn’t completed, it will take you to some decent places in downtown, which will be nice; and it will also take you to Culver City, this summer, which is also nice. It being open last saturday makes the city much more accessible to USC students.

Both have lovely campuses, although, imo, UCLA has way nicer grass. Weather at UCLA might be slightly better due to its proximity to the beach, but it’s probably negligible. Also, in general, USC probably has a more attractive student body than UCLA does (at least from my observations.) Both have their fair share of attractive and intelligent students though.

As far as money goes, that’s hard to estimate. I think it’ll be unlikely that UCLA’s tuition will increase anymore than it has in the previous years though. But it’s possible. It’s also possible for USC’s to increase too.

If you have any further questions, feel free to ask.

Good luck with your decision.

Thank you so for your insight! I committed to UCLA :)

Thank you so much*

No problem. Always great to have another bruin :)
