@mikuru I’m not sure why you say they don’t accept by major. They have to. They even say so on various web pages. They only have so much space in each major and they need to see how it shakes out (how many decline offers, etc).
@Ohm888 it is by major, I asked admission officers. That’s why impacted majors like psych or sociology are one of the last to get off the wait list, because there’s barely any space left.

I am in UCLA waitlist, and I already accepted UCSD SIR. Can i cancel the UCSD one if UCLA accept me? Is it bad to do that? Anyone in the same situation?
@MADB22 you should have SIR’d somewhere else for security, we should all do that. If UCLA accepts you, you will just lose the SIR deposit from UCSD, but you can accept their offer with no problem
Man this wait is killer… Hopefully they’ll add us even though the school already enrolled like 10k+ more students than last year…
@KINGKHAN310 really, they did? I knowww, it sucks cause we’ve all been working so hard for ucla and we’re so close but space didnt allow us to get in yet. decisions might start coming out in like 10 days though!
I was really optimistic in the beginning of the month, but now I’m starting to lose hope. This process is stressing me out! But whatever happens, happens. Just sucks knowing we were this close. Best of luck to you all
Same here, I was pretty optimistic at first, but now reality is hitting. I’m torn between USC and UCI, not sure which one to SIR to. USC gave me a scholarship covering about half the tuition, which is still expensive but I could live at home. While at Irvine, I’d have to find an apartment and spend money on housing and food. What do you guys suggest? The defining factor for me is money, my parents can’t really pay tuition.
Go to usc if you don’t need to go to grad school. Uci if you need to go to grad school. Doesn’t matter where you go undergrad as long as you get food grades and do important things there
i am gonna go to grad school but i feel like im gonna spend a lot of money on housing and living expenses at UCI anyway, so might as well pick USC
