<p>UCSD is indeed impressive, but i doubt anyone would actually argue that it’s a better UC than UCLA. i’ve only seen one ranking where UCSD was higher than UCLA (and berkeley for that matter.) Every single other one usually lists UCLA as vastly higher (IME, ranging anywhere 5-15 spots away; this is compared to 1-5 that usually seperate UCLA and berkeley; LA and berks differ by 1 rank in best public schools, 3 ranks in best national schools, etc)</p>
<p>UCLA and Berkeley also follow similar trends. both of their admitted freshman have really similar GPA (they differ by like 20 points in berkeley’s favor, but it should also be noted that UCLA gets like 8000 more applicants than berkeley.) they also both only admitted around 75% californians this time around (compared to the usual 90%) and i expect this number to jump more as they’re both in need for money.</p>
<p>it shall be interesting to see whether berkeley can remain the top UC. UCSD is up and coming, but it still isn’t in the same rank as LA or Berkeley. I do expect berkeley to pass LA but, of course i’m biased :p</p>
