Do I even have a shot given my poor GPA if I get a 3.6 or 3.5

Yes

rapidly rising for undergrad; very well respected med school- considered one of the best in new england.

although i'm not positive on this since i dont know how tough it is to get into the program, I don't think you have a shot with a 3.5-3.7 GPA (average UConn gpa is like 3.6-3.7) and an SAT of 2000-2100.

call them and ask them up about the admission standards.

I talked to a fellow freshman at my orientation in june and he was accepted into the Uconn combined medical program (~2100 SAT). I thought this was quite an accomplishment considering only 10-15 end up enrolling in this competitive program.

You need to be one of the very top people in your school regardless of how good/hard it is. You need about 3.8-3.9 GPA and really high SAT scores. Its a 8 year program, you do your undergrade then your grad. The medical school is ok, its neither bad nor excellent. Currently its the most skewed med school in the country, with 72% of next years first years being female. Basically if your male and Indian/White, unless you really have top grades you have very little if any chance.

There is an 8 year combined program. In the program, you have to keep a 3.5 GPA and get at least 28 on the MCATs to move on after 4 years.

UConn is average undergrad, but is moving upwards. They're just hit the 50% acceptance rate, so they'll be looked at as pretty selective in years to come if the trend continues. The honors program would be a given if you were to make in into the CPiM, it's very selective itself.

UConn Med is a good medical school, the class is small (about 80 each year) and their acceptance rate is less than 10%.

Since you're out of state, and the program is mainly geared for students coming from Connecticut, you're going to have to stand out if you want to get in. I'm not sure about your Junior year, but you might want to take more AP credits (or maybe not if you have IB). They'll focus on your SAT, so it'd be beneficial to score above 1500 math and verbal. They don't request SATIIs, but they did consider ones that students had when I was admitted. A 3.5 GPA and 1300 SAT are recommended by the program before you apply. Also, I noticed you don't have much medical experience, such as volunteering at a hospital or nursing home.
