Hi,
I am currently trying to decide between going to UConn and being in their Honors program, or going to BC. My major is psychology and I also am in the pre-med program at both. I was just wondering which school would be the better choice. I know that BC is obviously ranked higher than UConn, but UConn is also the #1 public university in New England. When I visited UConn, I got the impression that their honors students were given more preference to than say a student that wasn't in honors. However, when i visited UConn, i just hated how it was in the middle of nowhere, compared to BC, who is right near the city. Also, i got zero financial aid from BC, but got a scholarship at UConn. If anyone could give me some feedback that would be great. Thanks.

If you went to the Honors talk in the Dodd center you heard that kid talk about turning down BC and Tufts for Uconn Honors and the woman with short gray hair talking about kids regularly turning down Cornell and Penn to come to the Honors program. They really weren’t blowing smoke, the honors program is top notch and I personally will be going in the Honors program in the fall too.
I promise you, BC is not more prestigious and you absolutely won’t get a better education there.

Think about the mounds of debt BC’ll give you in 4 years…

D got into BC and UConn honors (Premed). BC will cost us ~ $55K a year. UConn ~ $20k (We are OOS), so she is going to UConn. She has at least 8 years of education ahead and how can you rationalize the price difference. BC and BU were quite stingy with financial aid. I think she will get a good education and experience in the UConn Honors program. She could have gone locally to a SUNY school but she wants to get out of NY so I think this is a happy medium.
