UConn vs. private school for Pre Med

I am currently a freshman at the University of Southern California, but am transferring closer to the East Coast for personal reasons. I am deciding between a small private school where I would have small class sizes and excellent pre med advising and UConn, which is a larger state school that would probably have less support. The main difference is that the private school would cost me $40k a year and UConn would cost me $20k (I am instate). I also will be applying to the Honors program at UConn for sophomore year.

While my parents CAN afford to send me to the private school, if I went to UConn I would have some of my medical school costs paid for as well. Is attending a small liberal arts college worth the extra money? And does anyone know from personal experience how good UConn's pre med classes are and the advising system?

Thanks.

If you do not care about $$, excellent pre med advising is a huge plus. However, this is exactly what my D. got at her large state UG. Very smooth process very early in cycle, both of which are very important. Find out, do not assume one way or another. D. also had very many other opportunities that she would have not got at elite places, simply because her state UG really appreciates very top students in many different aspects.
