@Gumbymom do you know anything about Gonzaga? Specifically the CompSci dept? If one had to choose between Gonzaga and UCR ( both Compsci majors), what would be the better choice? Thank you!
@Sgtdookie: UC’s do not consider legacy and UCR does not consider an applicant’s level of interest but it could not hurt to state they are your first choice.
@Twins2000: I am sorry that I do not know anything about Gonzaga’s CS Dept. It is a good school if finances are not an issue, so if you feel Gonzaga is a better fit academically/financially and socially, then select that school. Have you visited?
@Gumbymom Thank you for answering! We are visiting during spring break. D got a lot of scholarships making the school as affordable as any of the UC’s. That is why we are considering it. We’ve heard the campus is gorgeous though Spokane as an area is a bit run down, but we shall see. We are super excited to finally visit all the campuses!!
@lowkeyveryhighkey Actually, I requested a major change and now I’m a neuroscience major at CNAS so maybe it’s not so capped after all? Idk what happened, but I’m just thankful!
@collegeplzz21 thank you! Yeah I still have to take the math placement test that all incoming freshmen do, but they didn’t say anything more than that? Is there another test I should be worried about?
Also my stats:
Accepted: 3/02
Major change from anthropology → Neuroscience(BS)
GPA: 3.6
SAT: 1410
Essays: 2 were amazing, 2 were okay
Extra Currics: TA at school, taught a language to kids outside of school, dance, vocal lessons, mock trial, volunteering at a hospital, HOSA, set up my own club, FBLA
@confusedcommoner did you change your major in the portal or did you call them?
Hi @Gumbymom, I know you have answered this question but tomorrow I am going to officially write my appeal letter to try get me off the waitlist so what do you think I should mention since it can contain 500 words? My Dad, and two brothers have attended UCR, and UCR is my #1 school. Should I keep the appeal letter brief and concise? Thank you in advanced!
@Sgtdookie: UCR does not consider a students level of interest nor legacy. They want you to submit a statement with new and compelling information not mentioned in your original application with documentation to back up your statement. Just include the pertinent information for the basis of your appeal.
Best of luck.
@Gumbymom, thank you for a quick reply! I will try my best.
