So I got waitlisted at ucr and couple days after I got their financial aid. I forgot to appeal to my waitlist (not at mandatory but just heard it helps). Will my chances of getting in decrease substantially?
Make sure you say “yes” to the waitlist. Usually you only get a few days to say “yes”. If you miss that deadline, you will not be put on the waitlist. I have not heard you should appeal the waitlist decision as they are still considering you as a candidate. Appeals are usually for when you are rejected and you have compelling reason why they should consider you. Hope this helps. Good luck!
UC’s require a minimum gpa of 3.0
@koikat I said yes to it right after I got in the waitlist! I also have higher than a 3.0. I just heard ppl appeal for waitlist through the denial appeal form as a way to sneak in a LOCI. I hope it doesn’t hinder my chances of getting in??
@koikat the provisions of UCR and UC Merced don’t explicitly state that we need a 3.0. Lmao, every other UC does.
@CollegeDreams7 I was not waitlisted Just got my financial aid info!
HI!
I was accepted as a computer science major. (Transfer)
During the semester, I had serious health problems relating to the health of my heart. I wasn’t attending school for quite a while. I still manage to have (current) all A’s in my classes except for one class. Statistics! I am planning on withdrawing from that class since it seems like I have no hope of saving my grade for that class. Would this cause my application to be withdrawn? I don’t see on the assist website that this class is required or recommended, it’s kind of irrelevant. Do ya believe that I could be withdrawn for this? Please let me know, a little anxious. Also, I accepted their offer to the school (SIR).
I’m done with everything btw. Stats was just a fun class “gpa boost” but I had the worst of luck lol
question does anyone know exactly when waitlist decisions will come out and how many they accept? I have a 4.0 GPA, involved in so many clubs in and out of school, and had really good essays but a really low ACT score, which is why I think I got put on the waitlist. Do you think I have a good shot at getting in off the waitlist? I applied as a psych major.
@waitlistwonder Here’s a tip that I would give:
Don’t rely everything on the waitlist. Chances are that many UCs (excluding merced), have a high amount of waitlist applicants. I don’t know anything about the statistics of UCR, but I know for sure UCI is more than likely 400+ will be put off the waitlist (accepted) out of 4000/5000+ accepting the offer of waitlist.
Put your choice on a different college.
I’m not here to bum you (or anyone out really), but if you’re offered a waitlist, more than likely it’s already a 70% rejections anyways.
(To answer your first question, waitlists usually come out near the end of April/May 1, but like I said, choose a different college so you don’t lose track!)
@waitlistwonder @orionary Hi! I agree with not completely relying on the waitlist but predicting waitlist acceptance is hard. Maybe some years 70% kids don’t get in but then the next year 60% of the waitlisted do get in. It all depends and thats why we should wait. UCR is a school many people consider as a safety (except me I wanna go there loll) so the waitlist chances are higher than say UCI. There was a year where UCR accepted 0 kids out of the 4,000 something kids (not sure of the total), while other years it was 2,000-3,000. Also this year UCR sent selected kids financial aid information. While the finance and admissions don’t work hand in hand, the finance ppl won’t take their time to calculate you financial aid if they were not considering you. UCR last year came out in mid may as housing is due may 10. But yes you should definitely SIR! good luck to the waitlisted n hope we get in!!
can the waitlisted people make a fb group chat or something!!
Waitlisted for 5 of the uc
Does anyone know if we can start sending in transcripts or if we wait till they ask us too? Also, for those transfer students,does your Myucr account request high school diploma?!?!?!?!
@ezam1990 Transcripts are due WHEN YOU GRADUATE. Most likely your counselor will be responsible for sending your FINAL high school transcript. Plus, why would they ask for high school diploma?
if you use parchment.com for transcripts you can order now and choose hold for grades. then when final grades are in parchment will send them.
Anybody got off the waitlist yet?
Nothing here yet someone said last year it wasn’t until around the 15th
@orionary I’m a transfer student lol
Just got in off waitlist!!!
Are you a transfer student? @ama1999
