As it stands, I am currently on UCI's waitlist for the upcoming 2011 school year. My back up option if I am not accepted into Irvine however is UCR. Unfortunately, the MyUCR website is indicating to me that the school has not received my SIR when I clearly delivered it to the post office on the 29th of April to be post marked and shipped before the deadline of May 1st. It is now May 3rd, two days after the due date of the SIR, and the appearance is being made that I am no longer being offered admission to the University because the SIR has not turned up. I called the university's undergraduate admissions office and spoke to someone over the phone who told me that so long as the University receives the SIR postmarked before the deadline, they will be able to reactivate my account and everything will go back to being as expected. I suppose the issue is simply snail mail and the University will receive my statement and payment by later this week, yet I do have one question. How often to situations like this occur?

why did you SIR though USPS… they have computers now, you know? Anyway, when they open your letter, they’ll note the postmark, and you’ll be fine.

Believe me, I wish I could have sent it via computer, but unfortunately they were experiencing a problem with their online payment options at the time. I suppose I could have waited until the next day when the problem would have most likely been resolved, but I simply wanted to get it done as fast as possible. Thanks for the reassurance though!
