UCR is a great school! UCRespected

For astrophysics, UCSC.

Google uc santa cruz astrophysics
http://www.astro.ucsc.edu/</a>

Google uc riverside astrophysics
http://www.physics.ucr.edu/research/ap.html</a></p>

Pretty sure you will find UCSC specializes in astrophysics as a subject a bit more and, from what I can gather, they have more professors in the department. I think UCSC has a physics department and a separate astronomy and astrophysics department. Pretty sure they are closer to a UC observatory (Lick) too.

UC Riverside is definitely a good school, but given its acceptance rates,a lot of students here are at the lower end of the intelligence/maturity chain…

I’m pretty sure there are a lot of idiots here that you wouldn’t find in other certain universities

I’ve met them myself

Well, acceptance rates aside, different schools likely have different strengths. Physics, astrophysics, astronomy - UCSC.

Engineering - depending on the specialty, UCR has some 5 year BS/Masters programs that are pretty attractive.

actually UCSC is ranked 71st for National Universities in US news and world rankings 2010.
UCR is ranked 96th.

Not that I really care about rankings.
I agree UCR is still a great school!

UCR ranks higher than UCSC in the majority of PHD programs.

The reason why UCR’s acceptance rate is high is because they are trying to have as much students as they can. Just because their admittance rate is high doesn’t mean the school is bad. The reason why students are not trying to go to Riverside is because of the location. But it seems like locations do not really matter anymore once you get into college. I mean, do people actually go to the beach if they go to Cal State Long Beach or San Diego State? No. They barely go to the beach cuz they have a lot of work to do at school. Even if they have time to relax and have fun, they end up going to L.A. to party up. So location seems really pointless when you go to college. UCR currently have about 16,000 students and they are improving every year. I’m so glad that I got into UCR and I am pretty sure I am going to love it.
