I’m a transfer student and I’ve submitted a TAG for UCR but I don’t know if I would go there if I was to pick b/w UCR and Cal Poly Slo. Cal Poly’s arguably one of the best CSU’s and UCR is kind of out shadowed by UCI, UCB, and UCLA. Any advice on which one I should pick if it came down to that?
SLO has the better program but it is much more difficult to get in. They accept local transfers first and then they look at others. UCR also has a really good program but not as strong as SLO from what i hear.
Go anywhere but Cal Poly Slo. The school admitted 1200 students too many and it’s a mess. It has been impossible to get classes even with 7 am and 7-9 pm classes and 14 hour days. Students are packed into housing like sardines, 8 students in 4 person apartments and 3 to a small dorm room. Lines for dining are 30-40 minutes long . In short, picking this school was the biggest mistake of my life. I chose it over better schools because of cost , but now my degree will take at least 5 years or more because the number of classes offered has not inteased to accommodate the huge freshman class. It will take several years to remedy this mess.
What specific Business major are you interested in? SLO could be better in certain things, however UC Riverside DEFINITELY for Business Administration! Berkeley and Irvine only other UC Schools to have it. UCR is growing faster than any other UC and moving up ranks fast. Is Top 100 Business (2018 US News Rank) #77 (SOBA Undergraduate), and #93 (Anderson MBA). University of California System is one of the best in the world and has national and international recognition. Definitely take a tour of each location to get the feel of them which would really help in your decision process.
