UCR or UCI?

I just got accepted to UCI through appeal but for some reason I feel that I may regret not going to UCR for some inexplicable reason. I know others cannot make this choice for me but which would you choose and why?

Personally, I feel Irvine is a better school . The admission stats back this up and do do students that go there. I have had family go to both schools and irvine is the best one by consensus. I’m going to irvine myself in the fall. However, something has to be said about going with your gut; sometimes you just know what’s right for you.

I believe you were on the appeal list too right? I’m sure I saw you haha. Anyway, I know it’s better statistics wise but college is what you make of it. Cliche but it’s true. With that said, I want to study in the field of business or engineering but I’m not to sure about those fields for the two schools. Have any clue about those two fields?

Both UCI and UCR are great schools. I’m not familiar with UCI’s business/engineering programs, but UCR has one of the only undergraduate business programs in the state. You can read more about it here: [UCR SoBA: Home](<a href=“School of Business | A. Gary Anderson Graduate School of Management”>http://soba.ucr.edu/)

SoBA an acclaimed business school and I recommend contacting an adviser directly so you learn more about your options. Go here for their contact info: [Undergraduate Business Program: Staff Directory](<a href=“Undergraduate | School of Business”>Undergraduate | School of Business)

As far as engineering goes, the Bourns College of Engineering ([Bourns College of Engineering: Home](http://www.engr.ucr.edu/)) has pretty awesome features like an engineering students-only residence hall and tons of research/student organization opportunities. Again, speak with an adviser to learn more about your options: [Bourns College of Engineering: Student Affairs Staff](http://www.engr.ucr.edu/undergrads/advising/sastaff.html)

Major doesn’t matter for “business” top tier firms hire art history majors out of Ivy league institutions all the time. I’m at UCI and the Econ/Bus Econ/ Quantitative Econ/Math-Econ kids all have more or less the same(or more) opportunities as the Bus Admin kids(accounting being the exception in which case the econ people need an accounting minor but that’s not too hard to do)

Uni
Work Experience
GPA
Major

That’s what matters… Work hard and prosper

For engineering, the order isn’t AS important, but you do need research experience(and work experience) too

Hmmmm… Just for the record, Irvine is not in Princeton Review’s “Best 376 Colleges” and it isn’t a mistake. It’s weird, in my opinion. UCR is, however, which is also weird in my opinion. Just some food for thought… I would assume Irvine is the better school though.

I’m not going to take the academia of UCR vs UCI into consideration. Based on the weather alone, I would pick UCI. Just saying.

^ I agree, LOL. UCR is a good school, but I live in Irvine and commute to Riverside on a daily basis during the quarter…40-50 miles and you can feel like a 10 degree difference.
