This is a repost from Transfer Students, sorry.
Is this possible as a mechanical engineering? If it is what would I need to do? Does having a late orientation date hurt my chances (I might not be able to get the classes I want)? Can my AP scores let me skip classes or is that only for CC’s? Thanks!!
Engineering transfers can take a while due to the amount of classes a prospective transfer has to take.
use assist.org to see what classes you have to take at the UCs you are considering. Use those sheets to lay out a plan and see how many quarters/semesters it takes you.
There is no shame in spreading everything over 3 years. I know plenty of successful transfers who have done this.
@luckie1367 Isn’t there a unit cap if you have UC coursework?
OOPS, thanks @goldencub, moving a bit to fast.
Sorry OP, I thought you were coming from a CC, not UCR. You can approximate using assist.org and see what classes are probably the equivalent at UCR. However it is much more difficult, and as goldencub said, you need to be wary of the unit max.
Why UCR over a CC?
I recommend going to a CC if you are absolutely certain you want to transfer to a school other than UCR. This is for a number of reasons that I won’t explain fully because I have to go to work, but it will be extremely difficult to do so as a ME major at a UC. I don’t think it’s impossible, but it’s probably going to be difficult.
