UCR Transfer Fall 2019 Thread

Accepted today for Biology. Transfer from bay area with a GPA of about 3.27 I believe…

Thus far accepted into: SFSU, Sac State, CSU East Bay, Cal Poly Slo
No rejections yet.
Waiting on the other UCs…

@kristinpete
Congratulations!!
I still did not get any notification, I applied for biology major with 3.7 gpa and 60+units.
Btw are you a transfer or freshmen?

What were your other stats? Pre-reqs completed, ECs, etc.

@tsanch17

Yup, pre-reqs completed, igetc getting completed by spring 2019. I had ECs, volunteer hours, being on 2 clubs at college, 15+honors units, math tutor.

Welp, im gonna wait till april I believe for the next rolling.

@AeroDE Hey! I am a transfer student from Foothill/De Anza. And yes, also Biology. Your resume looks better than mine. If you had solid personal insight answers, then I don’t see why you wouldn’t get in. I personally think my written insight answers were above average.

I’ve taken 100+ units. Did well in my major related classes - OChem, A&P, Bio, etc. Worked 20+ hrs/week. No recent volunteering or clubs.

@kristinpete UCR actually doesn’t care about personal insight questions, apart from for awarding scholarships. I was told by a UCSD rep that the only UCs that actually factor them into making admissions decisions are Cal and UCLA.

@BBoy99 So you’re thinking they only look at GPA and ECs? I really hope that’s incorrect info. It doesn’t explain why it took UCSD so long to get their decisions out last year - they apparently sent out decisions AFTER UCLA…

Edit: The UCSD site says they do read over the personal insight questions, so perhaps if they run out of time, they just stop bothering. “Process: Every application, including the personal insight questions, is reviewed by a minimum of 2 individuals. Consideration is given for the academic and personal factors listed below…”

@kristinpete it is incorrect info. Now, if you have the GPA within 25-75 percentile as a transfer you are most likely in. But I would say for most students on the borderline, they would read personal essays, etc.

@UCtransfer951 Thanks for your opinion. I’m in for UC Riverside but really want to get into UCSD. I need those insight questions lol…

@kristinpete I feel you. I live close to UCR. So I would like to stay local and take out no loans. My other option is UCSB. It just depends if I get regents for UCR or not.

I got into UCR with a 3.2 GPA, received admission notification 2/06/19. Biochemistry Major. Veteran. Shadowed a surgeon for about 3 months. Will transfer with two associates from CC. Hoping to get into UCI. Fingers crossed.

Insight questions: Very good

Calc 2: IP ( Currently A )

Physics 201: IP (Currently A)
Physics 202: Summer before I transfer.

Gen Biology Series: B / A

Hello everyone!
I got accepted on the 6th with a 3.5 GPA as a psychology major. psfghot

Okay guys I’m freaking out need advice!
Current GPA-2.87 I know it’s v bad
Completed IGETC
Completed all courses taking physics and organic chemistry last part and applied for biological science major at UC Davis, Irvine, Berkeley and riverside.
I basically wasn’t able to study as much as I wish I could’ve past few years were a roller coaster I’m wondering if I would get into any of these school with my current GPA or if I were to get rejected from all would I be able re apply next year if I take some more classes at Community college or would I be looked down as a looser who took easy classes to boast up GPA next year around any advice would help or if someone has been in my shoes before, tysm!

@hope109 I’m a psych major too! BioPsych!

@frazi78 I think you have a chance at UCR! How were your EC’s and personal statements?

@chaserichardson wow this just made me feel better and for the personal statement i basically explained how i moved to US about 5 years ago and it was difficult to learn new language along with the culture but i managed to pass all of the classes i got an A in calculus 2 but organic chem i failed once took it and passed again with a C im just worried if i dont get in since i have already finished all of the required courses would taking random courses to bring my GPA up and trying again next year be a bad shot?

@frazi78 You will not get into Berkeley, UC Davis, or Irvine with that GPA. you have a slim chance, and when I say slim, very slim chance of getting into ucr.

Take a look here:

@UCtransfer951 Your link shows that he/she might actually have a decent shot at getting into UCR. Look at the Enroll GPA range…they’re quite low. Make sure you’re selecting UCR from the drop down.

@kristinpete I would claim being in the lower interval of the 25-75th percentile is not a decent shot. He has a slim chance of getting.

hopefully decisions released next week @ricehappy10
