UCR, UCI, or UCSB?

I'm currently a freshman at UCR and I can definitely see what you're talkin about, fantasy. However, it's not as bad as you make it out to be. Want a good atmosphere to study? Go to the library which is like a short 2 min walk from the dorms. It's never really quiet in the dorms (at any school) unless you live in like pentland or something. Also, the people who dont study make it easier for me; in my intro to Anthropoloy class i got a 340/350 on the midterm and the average was only 260/350. I'm thanking those "stupid people" for not studying so the professor gives extra credit on the test. Anyway, as for me, I'm just trying to transfer to LA or SB but if I dont get in, I dont mind staying 3 more years here.

And to the OP, I recommend SB over UCI and UCR. Sure it's more expensive but living literally on the beach beats anything.

What was the point of repeating yourself fantasy? You are near clueless when it comes to relating the academics of a cal state and a uc and you are over exaggerating every negative aspect your are trying to pin to UCR.

haha.. wow.. well Im going to UCR (thank you Pasadena for telling me the difference between UCR and CSFU) it's true that UCR has a bad reputation (University of Calif., Rejects) but it really does come down to the student. UCR isn't bad, it was placed 88th out of all national universities and its undergraduate business program was ranked 77th (of 141). There are gangsters, low-lives, and students that got in with such low scores it would be hard to believe, but that makes the classes easier for the one who studies hard right? My suggestion, take 2 years at the university (make sure you work your butt off) then if you don't like, transfer to UCLA, UCB, USC (if you have the money) but if you feel like the university is a great place to be, then stay there. btw, you'll know which ones to stay away from, just don't get too close to them and you won't get dragged down with them.

hah, for the residence I put Classical Music, and "Extremely Clean" for me and the partner, and at Pentland. Hopefully, I'll have a dorm partner who's more of a help. I also enrolled in a program which puts all pre-business students together.

english please.

haha ok.. UCR is better than any Cal State in Business except maybe Cal State Fullerton in Accounting, but still has a good reputation in the business area but a bad reputation in students. Do well, and there should be no problem in getting hired, transfering, or going to a good graduate school. (3.7 GPA)

lol i meant to fantasy.

hey guys. it looks like i am going to ucr this year and i was wondering if you could give me the low down for housing??
what do you recommend? what are the pros and cons of each dorm?

from another thread:

Are you more focussed on studying or partying? Would you sacrifice .2 points of your GPA to get some action? Do you enjoy quiet places, or would you prefer a place where there is always a lot of socializing, even so much it will probably distract you from maximizing your potential?

The thing is you can socialize, study and all that for all 3 dorms but the peers around you will be different. If you would prefer a more quiet place that will allow you to study more often, then the palaces of Pentland Hills will be your best bet. However, if quiet hours drives you crazy, A&I is where you belong more so. As for Lothian, its for the people inbetween.

I can add a more personal touch if you give a brief autobio

i dont know what i would prefer...
i do enjoy partying but then again i am going to riverside with the intention to transfer to usc or ucla so studying would be nice. i would def like to meet people and be in a social atmosphere not be bored all the time.. therefore maybe i'm more of an inbetween person?? so lothian would be best for me?? i think it would be best to always have the option of partying and socializing than to not have it at all because i can always compensate for it by going to the library.

also are all the dorms the same? does one have better facilities than the others? thanks for helping me out!
