UCR vs. UCSC

Hello,

I honestly don't know which school to choose... I realize I've been doing a lot of these threads lately. But I wanted to lay out all the pros and cons before I made my final decision on which college to go to.

For UCR, its CS program is ABET accredited and I realized that UC Santa Cruz's CS program is not ABET accredited.
I received a scholarship for UCR but none for UCSC. Got into the CS program for both schools. With the scholarship UCR will cost me a lot less than UCSC. And the other thing is that the CS department for both is ranked exactly the same (they both are 56th in the nation). However UCR has a lower overall national ranking... but should that even matter?

Well ultimately, I still don't know which school to choose... Can someone help me decide? It would be awesome if you guys could just talk about pros/cons of each ( like how is the area surrounding the college? is it safe etc...?)

thanks guys!!

Rankings don’t matter. It doesn’t always define the quality of your education. If you’re going into CS and it’s ABET accredited at UCR, go to UCR. What you study and the quality of your major at a certain UC are more important than location or recognition.
