@Considered: I didn’t mean to criticize WorriedJrGirl on her english. I was mainly pointing out if you ask a question in college that you shouldn’t expect everyone to give you an answer you want and she could have kindly just said thank you and asked for more advice where she wouldn’t need to share personal information.
and thank you for fixing my grammatical error(s). I am, by far, not the best at writing in perfect english. Which is just one reason I am a Computer Engineering major and not an English Major.

UCR may not be the best university but their engineering program is good and accredited and growing. I really don’t like to hear that UCR is only a good backup, makes me feel as if all the hard work I’m doing at UCR not worth as much as if I was to take it another college.

I just read through the thread, one thing to say

Darkprince is a friggin turd

THIS IS A FORUM WHO THE F**K CARES

“when UCR students can not even formulate a proper sentence on a forum”
-that right there, is a downright insult

While this -
“WorriedJrGirl, I think you are being too defensive. Never once did I doubt your intelligence nor did I assume that you were stupid”

is his attempt to look nice after it became obvious he’s a turd

Bring on the flame war

@Sweet memories, My sister is a recent graduate from UCR and she is now in pharmacy school, so dont think of it that way. I asked about UCR’s engineering because i want to keep my options open and not just focus on those schools that famous for the engineering program that i know is an extreme reach if not impossible lol.
@Whiteclock lol thanks for the support.

SweetMemories, I did not mean to offend. I am a UCR graduate from a long time ago and it was my first choice. From what I’ve read, UCR is a good engineering school now and the BS+MS program looks like a good reason to go there; and not as a backup. I say “now” because when I went there there was no engineering, that I knew of.

But nobody should apply to just one place. Every applicant is going to have a first choice, and where it isn’t UCR, UCR becomes a backup along with every other non-first choice school for the particular applicant.

My grammar tirade was sarcasm and not seriously criticizing the “offenders”. Criticism of grammar on a forum seems a common cheap shot. Especially when I am trying to avoid being the target (like now), I spell check my posts.

Speaking of Chris Hansen’s “To Catch A Predator” Riverside edition, Inderjeet Singh was a UCR Computer Science Major, he was like a year or two younger than me. But I worked on campus with him back in 2001/02, really quiet guy. It’s weird when you see someone you’ve cross paths with on the show…it’s like knowing a celebrity! hahahaha…sorry, this is not a funny matter.

Here’s his TV debut:
[YouTube - To Catch a Predator: So, you’re a lawyer? (Inderjeet Singh “guy-from-mars83”)](<a href=“- YouTube”>- YouTube)

sapipa, haha me and my roomate watched the riverside edition religiously
haha the kind of celebrity you don’t want to meet! just there to play video games!

“and make the matter worse” would not be “and make matters worse” because I am addressing a single problem–the tension between the OP and another user–not several problems. Usage of the latter would mean the statement made by x compound the problems.

Thank-you for noticing that error with “in the academia” because I was talking about the academic realm rather than the institution, which you correctly assumed.

Consider, I did say that this criticism is “applicable to many other individuals as well.” However, I did make the suggestion of “pay a little more attention to grammar” to the OP because the OP blatantly made no attempt to make her post more readable and understandable; the 6th post in this thread was somewhat difficult to understand and the horrendous syntax caught my eye, and I believed that OP could do better. If I did not believe that the OP was capable of performing better why would I even bother to tell the her to pay a bit more attention to the grammar?

There will be many individuals who will criticize your [in general] work throughout your life, if you can’t accept constructive criticism then you won’t get very far in life (unless you are part of the aristocracy).

Furthermore, I would like to thank those who showed their maturity in this sub-discussion.

Lastly, Whiteclock, the utilization of “think tank” techniques to make me appear to be the enemy or bad guy will not work that well, because if one has a developed reading comprehension skill and were to read the complete sentence, he will know that your partial quote of my sentence is far from its original intended meaning.

This will be my last post regarding this issue because: (1) I do not want to detract from the purpose of this thread and (2) I do not want to turn this thread into a flame war because of immature people.
