I am going to apply to the UHP at UCR as a chancellor scholarship recipient. But i was wondering if anyone has any informations on the program itself since i can't find much information about it (especially the summer school part). So if anyone can provide me with some extra information then that would be great, thanks.

well my friend is in it the good thing is that you get to pick classes before any one. The thing she complains the most is that honors students are forced to attend lecture irrelevant to any of your classes.

[UCR, Honors Program- Introduction to the University Honors Program](http://www.honors.ucr.edu/Welcome.html)
That’s the site for the Honors Program. The summer school part is basically a 3 day 2 night orientation that welcomes students who are in the honors program. You get to meet other students who are also in the Honors Program and you do a lot of activities together as a hall. You have to complete a summer assignment and turn it in before you can go to the orientation. Search around that site and you’ll find what you have to do for the summer assignment and such things like that.

Is the talent show mandatory? Cuz i really don’t want to be performing…

haha no it’s not mandatory. If you want to do it, then go for it. It’s quite enjoyable though, since the RAs for the Honors Program put a show on based on the theme you guys get. For this past year, it was a Disney theme :P

How can transfer students become part of the honors program

All the info you need… [UC Riverside, University Honors Program (UHP)](http://www.honors.ucr.edu/)

If you’re transferring here as a third year then go here; [UCR, Honors Program- Upper Division](http://www.honors.ucr.edu/upperdiv.html)

You do need to have a UCR GPA of 3.5 and up.

when does UCR notify us about the acceptance/rejection for the honor program? And should i fill out my housing application before or after i have been accepted (i got the chancellor scholarship so it is a sure thing…i believe)?

the honors program is somewhat useless in terms of the mandatory lectures you are forced to attend. however, in terms of priority registration, increased opportunites to interact with faculty members, and accountability with grades, it is an excellent program to consider. i would highly reccomend it.

I remember getting accepted sometime in august? i’am not completely sure. and i filled out my housing application after i was accepted because i knew that i wanted “Honors Housing.”

What about orientation? Does the program automatically enroll u into the July 1st to 2nd orientation or do i have to register it myself?

You have to register yourself to the correct date.

Can a freshman room with a UHP freshman if both the UHP student and non-UHP student want to room together?

@haha438: They would notify you like in May or June I think, since once you’re in, you have to go to SUHP, and before you go to SUHP, you have to complete a summer assignment (essay and book) so obviously, they have to give you time to do it. SUHP is right before the first orientation session (July 1 & 2), so yeah.

@indian2010: I answered your question in the other topic.
