jack--i know we can gather that we aren't into cal poly at this point--but does it show up on your portal? i'm still a tiny bit hopeful. but am starting to rationalize by telling myself the housing thing wouldn't work out anyways.

yeah i am sort of like waiting for a rejection at this point. i have like 10% hope. haha

and yes. i would want to be on campus, let alone sequoia hall...and that would be impossible at this point. soo...

it should show up on our portals probably march 31st like lakeside said. they wouldn't bother informing us until the time when they really needed too. sort of a lame system. i'm disappointed in cal poly to tell you the truth.
i'm being just a little bit bitter hahah ;] but still..

so is it basically hopeless if we have not heard anything yet? I mean they did say they are going all the way to April 1st.

i'd say it's unlikely.
sorrry!

don't wanna be annoying, but can you say why its unlikely now. I mean if they accepted all the people they want, the rejections will become obvious instantly. So why would set the date to april 1st. I doubt they could over project the date by half a month, especially with the rise in applicants. But what do i know... :)

well, i think they would wait so that they COULD admit people as the deadline approaches, not necessarily that they will. if there are people that commit, they won't notify rejections until that date, because their freshman quota or whatever, will be fulfilled.
but hey, if there a bunch of admits that decide to go to ucs or other schools, then maybe they will accept some more in the next week or so? who knows..

Hey all...I just got accepted to UC Davis, and have heard nothing from SLO so I'm assuming I'm rejected at SLO. However, Davis is harder to get into this year because they had 50,000 applications this, the largest increase of UC school in applications for 2008. Last year, they only had 35,000 applications. So their accept rate probably far decreased this year versus last year. Still, there are several people on these boards that got rejected from Davis and got into SLO, and vica verca.....so really, is there any sense to any of it? SLO is purely numbers driven, where the UCs do a comprehensive review and take into account the total person.

Where did you hear 50,000 for Davis? When I got rejected, the first thing it said in attempts of salvaging a potentially crushed reject's ego was that there were 40,000 applicants competing for 5,000 spots. But what they don't tell you there is that UCD probably admitted around 24,000-25,000 students knowing that only a small percentage of the admitted would actually enroll. UCD has an admittance rate of 60%. Cal Poly is about 45%. Nevertheless, UCD did cut way down on their admissions because of that gross underestimation of how many people would actually enroll a couple years ago.

yeah i am sort of disappointed that cal poly doesn't review applications based on the student.
i hate how they just look at the numbers to determine who is admitted.

like u of oregon is in the process of reading my essay, looking over my portfolio and assessing my overall eligibility and whether i would succeed at their school. i will feel very rewarded when i get an acceptance from oregon, because i will know that my hard work and patience has earned it!

have you guys been checking your email/checking online? i got admitted via email/mycalpoly portal, but i still haven't received an acceptance letter. try checking online.
