How does the school year work.. are schools in quarters or semesters?
For UCB and UCLA.. when would the year end.. what month..
Thanks

I guess what I want are "Graduation Months"...

I want to do AI in College for Undergrad.. but I'm also interested in computer graphic design/animation/ etc
I'm wondering if most colleges offer "small" courses on such subjects you could take for "fun"... and how much those come to be $$$? Thanks

Only Cal (UCB) is a semester system, and all other UCs are quarter systems, therefore, UCB ends earliest and also starts earliest. I think all other UCs start or end pretty much same time. (Maybe a week or two weeks difference) UCB has only fall and spring semesters, whereas all other UCs have fall, winter, and spring quarters.

What month do they end in.

UCLA runs on the quarter system...

Fall Quarter: late September -> early December
Winter Quarter: early January -> early March
Spring Quarter: late March -> middle of June

berkeley is on the semester system and ends in may. UCLA is on the quarter system and ends in june.

I think Merced is on the semester system now.

Do you know what's funny? I heard that Berkeley used to be the only UC on quarters, and all the others were on semesters!

Berkeley starts earlier than all of the quarter system UC schools. Also, how close finals are during a break (before winter break here) might differ. Personally, i like that i won't have to worry about finals over the breaks, but I don't know how other UCs do it. Perhaps many would like the ability to catch up and study during the break.
