UC's, what are my chances?

I'm looking to go to either UCLA or UCB. I have an unweighted average GPA of 3.72 and a weighted average GPA of 4.27. I received a 33 on my ACT but also received a C in my first semester of junior year in which I took six weighted classes :/. How big of an effect will my unweighted GPA and my C have on my chances? Do I have a good chance of getting in?

I will be applying as a business undergraduate for both schools

What is your UCGPA? Your 33 seems competitive but without extracurriculars it’s hard to tell since LA and B look more holistically. The C will hurt. Engineering is competitive so I’d say it depends on your major as well.

You need to calculate your UC GPA, see link: <a href=“GPA Calculator for the University of California – RogerHub”>http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/

Average UC GPA at UCB/UCLA around 4.3 and Average SAT around 32. Your ACT meets the criteria, but that “C” will definitely hurt you. If it was UCR or UCSC, admissions may overlook the “C” but UCLA/UCB, I think this will be a major problem. There are so many outstanding applicants that have nearly perfect grades and scores, it will be really hard to compete. Write stellar essays and hope for the best. Make sure you have some good backup schools…

Good Luck.
