UCs....

Ok...so I applied to all the UCs. And I think I have a decent shot of making all of them. I live 30 minutes from Berkeley, and I have to say it has a nice old structured campus... It is seen as the number 1 public school la la la. But in my heart, I know I will never be able to turn down UCLA for UCB. It's just not possible. I'll probably get bad karma for this and end up not getting in to either of them...but then again I'll be just as happy at UCSD.

UCB sucks. Okay, well not really...but I live 30min from UCB as well, and I didn't even bother submitting an app...and I could have gotten in I suspect.

Go where you think you'll be happy, not where you feel obligated to attend. It's your time not someone elses.

UCB doesn't suck. I think that the atmosphere is delightful. Plus, there is good food and good people.

Besides, some of us (me) don't want to move away from the Bay Area.

Anyway, I am just biased, but then again I live an hour away from Berkeley.

I am biased too! =D Against Berkeley!

I really don't care for the Bay Area at all. I can't wait to move back down to SoCal...UCI, UCSD, UCLA...I'll take any of em before UCB.

Maybe because you lived down there. I used to live in Pennsylvania before I moved to the Bay Area, and the Bay is way nicer.

go where you feel you'll fit best. 4 years is a long time and you'll want to enjoy college life.

i felt ucla was the best fit for me, and i turned down berkeley, the #1 public. so go with what you think is right

Yeah...I don't mean to cast any doubt on your selection...it's jsut after living in both areas, and I have lived in San Diego...I know that SoCal is the best for me.

If you applied to some UC's in SoCal do yourself a favor and check out the area if at all possible...make an informed decision...than again, environment may not matter to you...it means a lot to me.

yea campus environment meant a lot to me too. definately take a campus tour; you'll get a much better feel for the school.

Yeah...and don't jsut take an official tour...spend a day there trying to see what you would do in your off time.

Melrose
Hollywood
Venice
Beverley Hills
3rd Street Promenade
Got Sanata Barbara to the north, Irvine to the south and San Diego a lil further south.
The beautiful Pacific Ocean beckoning

sigh I better get in.

You guys make UCLA sound so enticing!

That's cuz it is...LA isn't for everyone...but I really enjoy the city...plus I have some family nearby which is always a plus.

Too be honest most of the UC's are in okay locations and have something to offer. But UCLA is the best. And I'm not biased...it's a scientific fact...is too! ;)
