UCSB Acceptance

Got in, Pre-econ/math, 3.55 GPA, complete prereqs igetc and tag

JUST GOT IN TODAY> I CHECKED YESTERDAY. Just making that clear!

Is it bad I haven’t heard yet :(

@aninstance i hope not, I haven’t heard anything either. I’m guessing it’s because I don’t have TAG. I haven’t heard of many people getting admitted without TAG yet. I say we just don’t worry about it for now atleast. lol.

@babyygurl I did TAG though :frowning: I fulfilled my end of the agreement, though, so… D:

Me too, I have tag and I haven’t heard from SD or SB so don’t worry too much, there’s a ton of us out there. Everyone I know personally has said the same thing.

Checked today and admitted!

Major: Pre-Communication
UC GPA: 3.84
TAG? Yes.
IGETCs and pre-reqs completed, AA in French and Social Science

Applied: UCLA, UCB, UCSB, UCSD, USC, Pepperdine
Admitted: UCSB, Pepperdine
Waiting: Everything else :/

I’m excited! SB is one of my fall back schools so it’s great to know I’m in somewhere!

SB responses seem slow… hopefully this means they will release a big batch some time soon or something ><

I would think that they’re releasing TAG decisions first, then any spots left after that would be based on the merit of the application.

@aninstance: I’m sure your fine either way. Theres many people that haven’t heard anything yet. TAG pretty much gets you in.

Does anyone know if individuals with TAG get priority over others with a higher GPA? Basically, would all TAG applicants get accepted before the University even considers non-TAG applicants?

i’m tag and i still don’t have mine.

@jshong

Nope. I didn’t tag and I got in.

@zambonibecky: GPA and major? (if you dont mind)

non-Tag and I’m in too.

@babyygurl

3.8 History

@cannotwait

goin professional?

@mypinkfriday

Yep that’s the plan! Finish my undergrad and enroll in med school!

Talked to the admission counselor again today (he came to my school). He didn’t really have anything useful to say. The only two things that were kind of interesting is that UCSB does NOT read the essays AT ALL. not even if its a borderline application. He said the essays were only used by the scholarship people and other colleges like ucla or Berkley. He also said that for ucsb anyone with over a 3.1 has a pretty good chance of getting in and that ucsb has a 51% acceptance rate.

one of my friends also found out about getting in on wednesday. he had a 3.3 no TAG and is prebio with missing prereqs. The uscb guy also said that they do the applications mostly in batches and that you wouldn’t hear from them on sundays. its likely that the decisions come out on weekdays after 4 or 5. but they are mostly batches and are likely to come out once a week. (dont know what day once a week)

^Very interesting. Thanks for the info!

kind of weird today i got this email form admissions
Dear Darin,

Please email me your current grades-to-date for the four courses you are taking at COC this spring semester. Please be sure to include the course name and # along with what grade you are currently receiving. The more detailed and accurate the information you send me, the better.

Best,
