We are currently considering a CS Engineering at UCSB and UCI with Regent & Dean’s Scholarships.
How easy is it to sign up for impacted classes at UCSB? I have read some complaints about this issue. Since he has Regent at UCI, it will be easier to sign up for classes and dorms.
Please share any personal experiences about this campus. We cannot go to orientation so I am hoping to get some information from people who have been through the decision process. Thank you.
I can’t give any advice about how hard it is to get classes but I can tell you a bit about the campus environments. I live close to UCI and have been on campus several times; it has a more commuter vibe and it didn’t feel like a traditional college feel to me. Also, Irvine isn’t the best college town and it’s huge. However, there are great shopping centers around, and it is pretty close to the beach(15-30 mins). UCSB is more of a traditional college experience and when I visited on the weekend there were kids out everywhere and Isla Vista is really nice. It’s also on the beach so that’s a huge plus. One plus about UCI is that it’s closer to a lot of industry so it could potentially be easier to get internships. Sorry I couldn’t answer your original question but hopefully this can help a bit.
