Would like to know the opinion on which major UCSB (Bio-Chem) or UCR (Bio-Engineering)
is good to pursue as pre med. I really don't know the pre med advising at these schools.
Getting some $$$ as scholorship at UCR though. But, I know that reputation and ranking of UCSB is way ahead of UCR. Your response on this is highly appreciated.

What slight difference there might be in how med schools view the 2 schools (and I’m doubtful that even exists) is far outweighed by what you do in college. Do you get good grades? Get to know some profs so you get strong recs? Take part in research? Those are all under your control, and independent of which school you choose. I suggest you read thru the excellent premed guide at [Amherst College Guide for Premedical Students](Amherst College Guide for Premedical Students) to get a solid understanding of what you need to do in college, in what med schools look for.

So that said, my advice is to visit both schools and choose the one where you think you’ll enjoy being a student. As 2 UC campuses, I doubt that the premed advising is different between the two.

I transfered at a pre med bio-chem, but later changed to just regular chem… there is a professor by the last name “Kahn”, & as a biochem major you have to take 3 labs with him. doesn’t sound like a big deal, but just know that damn near 2/3 of the senior biochem majors changed to chem because of the difficulty and how time demanding it is. also, it will destroy your GPA. Unless youre a genius with antisocial behavior. Good luck. Check kahn out on rate my professor before you choose/if you choose biochem
