My son applied to CCS computing. One hour ago, he found out that he was admitted to Letters and Sciences instead of Engineering School. This was surprising since he had not even applied to Letters and Sciences. I know you need to be admitted by UCSB first before CCS can admit you. But do all CCS Computing admitted students get accepted to CS in the school of engineering first, or just any major even in Letters and Sciences? Trying to gauge if all hopes are lost or not.
Found some info that leads me to believe that all CCS students are first admitted to Letters and Sciences:

Excerpt:
College of Creative Studies
Applicants to the College of Creative Studies submit a supplementary application in addition to the general UC Application, which is reviewed by Creative Studies faculty. Students are selected within Creative Studies majors only. Applicants not selected for Creative Studies will automatically be considered for admission to the College of Letters and Science.
This may make sense for all other CCS majors since they match majors under Letters and Sciences. But that means that CS applicants are NOT considered for the CS major in the school of engineering if not selected for CCS.
Can anybody with first-hand knowledge or experience confirm this?
" Applicants not selected for Creative Studies will automatically be considered for admission to the College of Letters and Science."
sounds like a kid is only considered for L&S if they are denied admission to CCS.
My kid applied to ccs but was accepted to engineering, I think. This is a bit confusing. Has anyone heard from CCS computer science yet?
@mom of cs kid my daughter was accepted into computer engineering in college of engineering. She then got an email about being accepted into the CCS Math. We are going to the open house in April and she was hoping to spend a day in CCS and see if it was a good fit, if not she would stay in Engineering. But we are also not quite sure how it works. We are hoping it doesn’t change to CCS until she has a chance to visit and see. Also, we spend some time reviewing the graduation ceremony of CCS (you can google them). There seem to be many people with a dual degree in Engineering and CCS.
We are now on the seventh day after UCSB sent regular admission notifications. CCS applicants for Math/Biology/Chemistry were notified within 24h. Still no decision for Computing. Anybody else? I am starting to believe that CCS started reviewing Computing applications AFTER admissions were announced. So much for turning in the CCS applications in December!
My daughter also got accepted to CCS Comupting and is seriously considering it. We will visit the open house some time in the next week.
Tip for future applicants: CCS keeps your status “unknown” as a temporary wait list.So if you have been waiting for more than 48h after admission to UCSB, contact info@ccs.ucsb.edu to inquire about your status. Since it is not an official wait list but rather a holding bucket, I am guessing it has to be resolved before 5/1.
Did anyone get into CCS and also get Regents? Are the two mutually exclusive?
