*** So honored to be accepted but I will be declining admission, as the major is not exactly what I desire. I hope my decline makes room for one of y’all.
I’ve taken all of those. It’s fine though. Currently the UCLA situation is scaring me though
I wish you well, you’re a really strong candidate. UCSB could’ve been trying to preserve their yield.

Thanks, I’m in touch w/ dean who asked for transcripts & sent spring grades showing both eligible. Fingers crossed.

Waitlisted for Geography major with 2.9 GPA as an OOS transfer.
I’m surprised that they didn’t reject me, but I hope this reminds future transfers that your application is more than your GPA. In my freshman year, my GPA got curbed stomped with academic probation and subject to disqualification, but in my second year, I got my ■■■■ together to create an upward trend with a 3.6, 3.8, and 4.0 GPA. For my ECs, I had 4 internships working at UC Natural Reserves and the USGS to study conservation and GIS/georeferencing, create species guides and literature reviews, and update research databases. In my essays, I explained my freshman-year grades, explained why I wanted to transfer into UCSB’s geography program by highlighting the courses and internships that I didn’t have access to at my current uni, explained how my ECs/coursework developed my interest in geography, and showed more interest by mentioning professors in my major and internships/clubs that I wanted to attend at UCSB. It’s unlikely they’ll take me off the waitlist, but I’m happy to have even a small chance because this was my reach school.
You should really push to get off the waitlist. I won’t be surprised if they pull you off.
