UCSB Financial Aid Packet & Disbursement

Okay so once people start receiving their financial aid packets please post them on here (if you feel comfortable) so that future transfers may see what they have to offer financially.

Hope this thread helps!

Also I have a question: People generally move in around August right? If that's true I was told that financial aid isn't disbursed until a week before the start of the quarter isn't that supposed to cover rent and stuff (if awarded)? Does anyone know what's up with that?

Thanks!

I think it will be in september that people move in because classes don’t start until October 2nd. <a href=“Academic Calendar for 2014-2015 - UCSB Office of the Registrar”>http://registrar.sa.ucsb.edu/cal2015.aspx

Is there a “move in date”?

And that’s interesting that the quarter starts a few days before classes do

Okay so I emailed UCSB’s financial aid and this is their response:

"Hi Matt,

Congratulations on being admitted into UCSB! I’ll be happy to answer your questions.

1) Funds from financial aid are disbursed into your billing account a month before the payment deadline. However, after your fees are paid, if you have funds left over, you will be issued a refund and that is what is disbursed 7 days before the beginning of the quarter. So in other words, your financial aid will cover your fees before the deadline.

2) You aren’t able to view your financial aid until next week when we make Unofficial Award Letters available. However, your official financial aid package is determined after you submit your Student Intent to Register. Be assured that as long as you submitted your FAFSA before the March 2nd deadline, you’re in good shape."

So that sounds good

Quick question. In order to activate our UCSBNetID to check our financial aid, must we first submit our SIR? I’ve been trying to log in but have been unable to do so.

Yeah you get it after you SIR

And they haven’t determined unofficial packages yet, you don’t need to SIR to see that which comes out next week
