I went to UCSB orientation last July, and it was a disaster for me; Not that I did not make an acquaintance, but that while most people seemed already to form their own groups, I was left out, not talking to anyone during lunch time, nor having fun…I was working on myself (am still), I started to push-up, cut new hair style, and fixed my bad posture. I thought that would comply with a confidence, but well, it did not. Those people did treat me in a respectful way, and still, they turned on me eventually (Probably because I asked them for Instagram as my teacher advised me. I should have not done that.)
I had a good chunk of friends at high school; Not really enough close to hang out outside the school, but just enough to text together or attend graduation parties, despite my introverted and socially awkward personality…They just approached to me, so we became friends; Now I am worried that would not happen in college…
I am planning on joining some clubs and an intramural sport team; Soccer team, because I like to kick the ball; german club, because that country has always gotten me interested, somehow; Democrats, because it’s my political stand, not liberal though.
Are other races friendly to an Asian nerd? I am willing to get out of my comfortzone, but do UCSB students greet an Asian dude with smile? Generally, is UCSB college easy to make friends?
