Hello,
I was wondering if anyone had any perspective or information on what the Greek life is like at UC Santa Barbara? I just visited UCSB at their Spring Insight Day and I have to say I’m very excited about (probably committing and attending) in the fall. I am interested in joining a sorority because I would like the community feel of it, but I also enjoy the philanthropy side of it as well. Any feelings/experiences would be appreciated. Thanks!
I loved being Greek at UCSB (and happened to be philanthropy chair as well). I transferred to UCSB from USC, and there were drastic differences between the Greek systems. At USC, in a large part because the area around USC wasn’t great, most lived in the sorority house their sophomore-senior years. Also, there was very little co-mingling between the sororities. UCSB was very different-- a general friendliness and support among sororities (I even lived in a house in IV with girls from both my sorority and another sorority…that never would have happened at USC). I loved living in the sorority house as well, but also enjoyed living outside the house my senior year. Loved every minute of my time at UCSB! Have a blast!
