I recently sat in a couple of classes at ucsb this week and they seemed very community college-y and the proffesors weren't very professional. Granted they weren't the most challenging courses and I plan to pursue engineering which I assume will be more difficult. Bottom line does the difficulty of these genral classes I sat in reflect that of the engineering dept? And how rigerous is engineering at ucsb compared to cal? If your wondering why I don't just go to cal I'm more of laid back type person (doesn't mean I'm not willing to work hard) which fits ucsb and I've met some of sb's engineering proffesors and found them to be helpful informitive and proffesional. Any insight would help, thanks!!!

I’m majoring in engineering here and I can tell you that the general ed classes are a joke. They are much different than the core engineering classes you would take and are generally regarded as ‘easy’ classes by engineers. If you sat through one of the lectures where the professor’s tests are Multiple choice, then i can see why you got that impression. That’s not to say there are aren’t difficult L&S courses.

Thanks, that was the answer I was hoping/expecting to get. Does anybody have any information regarding the difference between these 2 engineering programs?
