I was recently admitted into the College of Engineering at UCSB. I checked my financial aid status on their website, and according to my Unofficial Financial Aid Award Letter, I am receiving a university grant for almost $14,000. I have already submitted my FAFSA, and the EFC matches on the the FAFSA and on the UCSB website, but this grant seems too good to be true. My parents make a decent amount of money, and I really didn't expect a need based grant. Will I really get that much money to attend UCSB, or will the grant change once I have submitted my Statement of Intent to Register? I am in a similar situation with UC Davis.

It sounds like you qualified for Blue and Gold. Was your parents’ income about $80k or less?

What was your EFC?

My parents make about $150,000 a year. My EFC was about $8,500.

How did you get a UCSB.net id?

What? Are your parents divorced? If not, and they’re together, how could your EFC be that low? Do you have a few siblings in college???
