So, I’m completely stuck between these two schools. I have two very good friends going to each of these schools but I am waitlisted to SLO. I’m wondering if it’s worth the hassle (if I get in) to lose the deposit at UCSB and switch to SLO. I know SLO is more hands on and stronger in its sciences than UCSB is but I’m also scared because I’m not 100% sure if I want to do Microbiology and I know it is harder to change your major there because you take major specific classes in your first year. Please help, not sure what I’m going to do, and thanks in advance.

At the moment you are admitted to UCSB and that is where you are going. If you do get accepted to SLO worry about it then. I have no idea about your deposit at UCSB, but hopefully you can get it back if you have reason to. Changing majors at SLO is not that hard and it happens all the time. Just search changing majors on this forum and read till your heart’s content. Good luck! UCSB is a fantastic school, if you get into SLO the more power to ya!
