UC Santa Barbara waitlisted me and I would love to go there because I hear they have a good program for my major. I plan on majoring in Political Science. Is it worth the try to e-mail them and explain my motivations on attending their school in order to get off the waitlist?

Try an appeal. The way I see it is that If you are on the waitlist (Like me) it isn’t going to be a huge stretch for them to accept you like if you had been rejected.

Good Luck! I am going to appeal as well. If the appeal doesn’t work then I may still get off the waitlist.

Doesn’t an appeal only work if you have something new to say that wasn’t put on your application? Because I don’t…

Yeah that’s how it works.

New information about me:

- Mom got diagnosed with Osteoporosis. Since UCSB is the closest UC to me, it is very convient because I can get a great education at the same time be able to help my mom if she ever needs it.
