UCSB Website is UP

I have half a mind to call SB right now (anonymously of course, lol!) and let them know how unfair they are!! I'm still pending as well....lol!

How'd that call go, byla?

"Hello, I'm from the Internets [insert audible lulz]..."

mine is pending as well, also comm major, so they're really letting csu transfer know before cc, if so yeah unfair since cc is supposed to get priority and that csu is harder to transfer from.

any decision won't be made today because today the campus is closed.

but seriously, i'm a little miffed that CSUs are hearing before CCC since they are the "priority" but it's no skin off my teeth. i just wish something would happen regardless. Decision Pending are the two words that are the bane of my existence right now besides "midterm" and "final exam" and "by june 1st" (for USC decisions)

Well, I cheated. I applied for Winter quarter 2008 and was guaranteed admission for the Fall given I do not reach senior status, maintain my gpa (which is horrible - it's somewhere around a 2.8), and re-apply. Even though I am coming from a CSU, I think that is why they admitted me on 3/17.

i'm in the same boat as you byebye and applied for winter 08, but i coming from a cc so hmmmm. I appealed and still lost, they said way to many people applied as usual, like usually they would have 500 or so spots for like 600 apps but that winter they had 280 sports and over 1000 people applied. Weird though that you found out the first day. Since i applied for winter and coming from a cc, i do think i should of heard first.

dragondawg - i figured that all those guaranteed admission for fall 08 were notified the first day, or at the very least the first week. i wonder how many students ucsb offered guaranteed admission to from winter 08.

i wonder if the fact that most of my units were completed at ccc had anything to do with it. i completed around 90 quarter units at community college and around 35 at CSU.

yeah i wonder that too, i don't think i would have gotten in or have increased my chances if i had not applied during winter but things worked out that way. Maybe my app is taking a while longer cause i didn't upate my fall grades immediately? plus there was this one course where i was waiting to get my grade change but it came after the deadline to update fall grades, so maybe that had something to do with it. Do you know anyone else who applied for winter that already got in?

i think that is what is irritating me the most is the fact that i did the guarantee and still haven't been accepted...really irritating

it seems like majority of ppl did not get results yet...

dragondawg - i don't know anyone else who was guaranteed admission and hasn't heard about their status yet. best of luck to you! you'll hear from them soon.

i hope so, its almost april

anyone else a business econ major?

Yeah I am. Think it's gonna be a lot slimmer admit rate this year than the usual 70 something percent?

i'm a business econ major....my decision is still pending

hmm i wonder if our major is just going slow...did you guys both do TAG's and finish the micro, macro, stat, and calc classes with whatever gpa they required...i think it was 2.75

adam48, it's not just your major. i'm a french major and i'm still pending.

did you do a TAG for Letters and Science's though....Anyone else do a TAG and still have a decision pending?

No TAG because I won't be finished with the calculus. I am still up in the air about how this will affect my chances. I have heard that SB doesn't take pre reqs into account as much as other UC's, and I got admitted to Davis missing more pre reqs for the Managerial Econ major than I am for the Bus Econ at SB, but on the web site it says that I MUST complete calc pre reqs, so I'm not sure if they will admit me because of this.

Does anyone know if the TAG for the business econ major means that if you finish the 4 pre reqs you will be admitted to non "pre" major status? I get the impression that I qualify for the Letters and Sciences TAG, but not the Bus Econ TAG. Does this make sense?

Adam48: I did click the TAG bubble when I applied and I am still pending obviously.
