Hey, y’all. I didn’t see one of these started yet, so I thought I would go ahead. I went to preview day at UCSC yesterday and fell in love with it. Even though UCB is my first choice, I would not at all be heartbroken to go to Santa Cruz.
Major: Psychology
Overall GPA: 3.81
Major GPA: 4.0
Prerequisites: Done excect precalculus, but I’ll be finished with that by the end of spring.
TAG for UCSC: Yes
Personal statement: 0/10. Haven’t written it yet.
ECs: President of Phi Theta Kappa and Alpha Gamma Sigma honor societies, member of Active Minds, student ambassador for my CC, intern at 7 Cups of Tea (a mental health improvement company), as well as have volunteered with the local library and on campus for several different events.
Uh ok so yeah I’m going to get involved with the thread because I am hoping to get in. I’m optimistic.
Major: Psychology
After this semester gpa: Expected to be 3.09 but could be less maybe 3.02. My current gpa is 2.98 but I’m doing very well this semester and that’s my projected GPA.
IGETC: Completed
Applied: UCR, UCI, UCSB, UCSC, UCD
Major requirements:1 left in the spring
So the way it went was I was doing awesome, then had a bad semester last fall, then all W’s in the spring because I moved to Texas, then has another bad summer. So I had a downward grade trend but am bringing it back up!
Major: Math
GPA: 3.18 - probably ~3.20 by end of semester
IGETC: completing in Spring
Applied: UCR, UCI, UCSB, UCSC, UCD (also some CSU’s)
Major pre-reqs: completing last 4 next Spring
Lower end of the Gpa woohoo! Last year I applied and got denied to UCSB but got accepted into Irvine and riverside. I think with completed major requirements and IGETC along with the increase in California student funding will greatly boost our chances
@Countchocula25 I recently had a downward trend in grades as well. This semester, actually. I’m on the verge of a D in chemistry (and I have a midterm and lab practical today I’ll likely fail and drop into the D-range with), but I already took another class that fulfills the physical science requirement, so I don’t know how they’ll look at that.
UCSC does only require a 2.4 GPA, though, so I feel optimistic for you guys.
@Countchocula25 My UC-transferable GPA is now a 3.3, but that’s because I failed two classes eight years ago that are ruining my GPA. Without those, I would have a 3.7.
UCSC has gotten no love this year lol. It seems everyone else is paying attention to the other UC threads, heck even Riverside is getting more attention lol. Lets change that. Hopefully we can inspire more people to post up there stats
Major: Economics
GPA: 3.32 - with Fall’ 2015 grades
IGETC: completing in Spring.
Applied: UCSD, UCSB, UCD, UCSC, CSULB, SJSU and some other CSU’s.
Major pre-reqs. Done in Fall’ 2015
TAG: No, not to any other UC either.
Had my english requirements done a year ago, and just finished up my last CALC class in the fall. My school has a winter term and I’m taking a course that is recommended on ASSIST but is not a pre-req, which is weird but whatever XD. Hope to get in, never been to the campus itself but it sure looks welcoming and beautiful. Waking up to a forest environment would be glorious.
Hoping more people can comment their stats to bring attention to UCSC. Cheers’
You’re right, @BlackPlasma
The santa cruz threads are always a bit dead lol.
I have several friends at sc and they all love it, but it’s a little too close to home for me. I decided to apply as a safety in case something went wrong with my TAG.
Major: Politics
GPA: 3.4
IGETC: Finished
Applied: UCSC, UCSB, UCLA, UCB, UCD
Major Pre-reqs: I have finished the ones required for SC. The others will be finished this Spring.
TAG: I tagged Davis
Major: Sociology
GPA: 3.51
IGETC: Finished at the end of Spring semester
Applied: UCD (TAG approved), UCB, UCLA, UCI, CSULB, CSULA, SFSU, UCSC
Major Pre-reqs: Finished at the end of Spring semester
Accepted: CSU Long Beach, CSULA, SFSU, UCD (TAG)
I love Santa Cruz, but it’s so so so so expensive to live there and there’s not a lot of employment opportunity so I don’t know. Most likely going to Davis.
@boxandwhiskers
I also got accepted to CSULB and honestly was surprised that they posted so soon. I was expecting them to release decisions around the same time as the UC’s. I really like the campus of UCSC but I am not sure I will be going there. I do like the look of the forest though. Good luck.
Hey to @aepaige. Can you please fix it to “Thread” instead of “Tread”. At least try to make UCSC look respectable on the front page lol.
Anyways I received an email a few days ago from UCSC letting me know to check and activate my portal if not done so already. If you applied you should have receive something similar. Just trying to let you guys know.
I prefer tread. It goes against the expected “thread”. It’s edgy, it’s cool, and it makes sense to do something so revolutionary for a research institution with aims of ground breaking and revolutionary finds. Keep the tread. You make changes to how you spell things, next thing you know we have the next Nobel prize winner in our company. Can’t move forward if you keep doing the same thing.
