UCSC or SDSU Honors

I am having a very hard time deciding between UCSC and the webers college in SDSU. I was waitlisted for Davis and UCSD and those are my top 2 so I am hoping to get off the waitlist for those, but it is unlikely so I am being faced with this decision.

I am aware that SDSU is a very party heavy school, and UCSC is a very drug heavy school. Neither is my scene which is why I was hoping for Davis. I am also aware that some people feel that UCSC is very one sided politically and it is often difficult to engage in political conversation (I even saw that they have a college democrats club, but no college republicans club!) these are factors that I am nervous about because I would prefer to be at a very open minded campus that is fueled by dialogue and questions.

I have family at SDSU so I know a lot about it, but do not know much about UCSC. I was wondering if anyone could help give some pros and cons of each campus? I am hoping to study something in the math/statistics field. Any input would be appreciated!

SDSU had the party school image 20 years ago and many things have changed which makes SDSU a well respected school. The Honors college is definitely a plus so you should check out the perks since they are worth investigating.

I cannot really comment on UCSC although a beautiful campus and the “drug culture” is confined to small groups of students, you really need to visit to get a good feel for the campus and campus life. Most students either love it or hate it. It is isolated so you want to be near a big city, SDSU would be a much better choice and you should consider transportation logistics due to its isolation.
