UCSC vs. Columbia Chinese History major

She's my friend's friend.
She is Korean and she wants to be a history professor.
I asked her why do you wanna come over to the U.S.? You should go to China!
And she said it is because in China, she, as a foreigner, can't access to many data.
In the U.S., she is more available to access to data to research.

So, which school do you think she has to go?
UCSC? or Columbia University?

Give me some advice!

I know Columbia has a very strong EALAC program, but really, there’s not a lot of information in this post. It depends on her interests, on funding, on placement within her field (where do people who graduate with PhDs from Columbia or UCSC go?)

She gets funding in UCSC but I guess not in Columbia.
