So I am transferring as a 3rd year this Fall, & I am deciding between UCSC’s film & digital media major vs. UCSD’s visual arts (media) major. I have heard both good & bad things about both schools. I know UCSD is ranked higher as a whole, but my concern is more based on how good the individual programs are themselves. I heard both are pretty hands on, which is what I want. I also heard UCSD is socially dead, which is kind of a concern to me bc I’m trying to make connections and also not have a boring college experience. For UCSD, I would be going to Sixth College, and for UCSC, it hasn’t been confirmed, but I’d either be at Porter or Kresge College. Please let me know overall what you’ve heard or know about each programs and the school itself. (And since I’ve already seen this on other threads, please don’t tell me UCLA/USC/Chapman/etc. have the best film programs. I’m completely aware they do already, but I’m asking about these two schools specifically.) Please help!!! Thank you!!
