UCSD Acceptance

can anyone log into the Parent Aventeur portal? https://aventeur.ucsd.edu/public/newparent/

When I try i get this message:

The UCSD New Parent Gateway is currently closed and will open in mid-May when registration for Orientaiton opens please return then.

(Yes, they did spell orientation wrong, haha)

That’s embarrassing.

OK I just called UCSD admissions and the officer just said to keep on checking the my application tracking site :frowning: She wouldn’t tell me one way or the other if I had been admitted even though I told her I received the email. She said the updates to the application tracking site are all automated so she didn’t know what batch I would be in. Apparently it can only update a certain amount she said.

I also just got off the phone with UCSD Admissions. She told me that admission was based SOLELY on TWO THINGS: 1) GPA 2) Units and THATS IT.

***? Did anyone know that?!

I have a 3.2 and 120 units transferring from UCD Mechanical to UCSD Mech or EE.

Am I screwed?

That’s so lame! What happened to qualitative evaluations, especially considering UCSD is of a high caliber.

So since it’s based solely on i. GPA and ii. units, I then ask how many “units” would you think makes us competitive? (any range?)

Hmmm. I’m wondering in what sense Units applies. Like the more you have, the more competitive you are?

Yeah, I think so. One would think that more units also implies more preparedness for upper division right? She literally said, “We don’t even look at your EC’s” which was pretty shocking. I should probably start an appeal letter now haha, a 3.2 is not too competitive. Although, I did come from UCD Engineering which has significantly higher competition than a CC or, at least I think so.

Wow i really thought i got accepted to UCSD when i received the “Thurgood Marshall” email last week. My application is still pending. I’m going to be sooooo mad if that email was a huge screw up and actually doesn’t mean anything.

Has anyone figured this situation out yet? I called admissions a moment ago and the lady told me to “just keep checking the myapplication website.” She also said that the Thurgood Marshall email was just a generic email sent out to everyone. She was being very vague and almost secretive too. She was talking very fast and wasn’t directly answering my question about the email

epikhigh, maybe those two things only apply to UC-UC transfers. They probably figure you had to have good EC’s, and essays to get into UCD so they dont really look at that. It makes sense that they only care about GPA and units for a UC-UC transfer.

@Oliver_Twist - When asked, the admissions officer did not specify exactly how many. She simply said “the more the better”. Transfers can’t have more than 135 units right? So as close to 135 as possible I suppose.

And I agree, I expected UCSD to fully evaluate the apps. There’s so much more to students, ESPECIALLY, transfers who have had the opportunity to get involved in their school.

USMC, that could be true. She said it with so much conviction I just didn’t bother to question it. It’s a possibility though.

@Dallas1 I got the email as well and my status online hasn’t changed. I also called today and I got the exact same response. I really hope they didn’t make a mistake in sending those emails again! The lady sounded very secretive too and didn’t give any significance to the email and kept saying it was a generic email. She also said to keep checking online…

UCtransferhope - I really hope we got in. I don’t know what to make of that email though… There is NO WAY it is just a generic email sent to everyone. That would be pretty misleading to send someone an email saying “congratulations on your admission to UCSD” without actually knowing whether or not they got in

there is no way that people with more units get preference. as long as you have 60 units you should be fine… i got that from a ucla rep

@Dallas1 Yeah I hope we get in too. I have a TAG so I feel somewhat less stressed out about it but yeah that would be pretty misleading if the email didn’t mean anything. Anyway, I will update you if my status changes online. Good luck!

kelli’s bf might have received the acceptance in June… my friend transferred from Cal Poly Pomona and got it ~Mid May, but the people transferring from UCs or CC should be getting it before April ends.

if it was a generic e-mail sent out to everyone, then wouldn’t there be tons of people talking about it ? O_o the thing about admission people only looking at units & GPA is stupid if its true , because i’m sure more than all the applicants they are required to admit have units and GPA that fit the standard

So any update? lol. This is getting kinda ridiculous.

It wasn’t sent to everyone, I didn’t get it, but my priority list didn’t include warren (if that was the one)

My aventeur was marshal, housing changed as well but no email. Hm. I was able to register for orientation also
