My S got the offer from UCSD ( Bioengineering:Bioinformatics) and in BME from UCI. He is wait-listed in UCD.
Location of UCI and UCSD is acceptable to him, although have yet to visit the campus.
Any suggestions on which one should we opt? Should we continue to try for UCD, since it he has to submit an essay again?
Google search on job opportunities after undergrad in Bioengineering/BME does not sound promising, but am not sure if it does reflect the ground reality. Any opinions?
Any advise on what all should I look for before making a decision?

I would give UCSD some serious consideration because their bioengineering is one of the top programs in the country. Also, the opportunities in San Diego for related research and internships due to the high number of biotech firms out there make it a great option if a career in bioengineering is what your son looking for. If you can, try attending Triton Day at UCSD to get a feel of what the school/area is like.

Thanks for sharing your opinion. I am trying to make to the Triton Day to get a feel of the campus.

To add to my options, my son has now got an offer from University of Washington, Seattle in BME. Although UW will be costly for me, since I will be out of state, but if I take cost factor and weather apart, is UCSD still a better choice.?

Also I learnt that Bioengineering:Bioinformatics is not accredited by ABET. How could it impact when going for graduation, internship or possible job after undergrad. I do not know much about the value of this accredition, but its mentioned on the UCSD department site.
