UCSD - Changing Majors

Probably saw that title a lot, huh?
Sorry! Trivial introduction to make this seem less awkward.
I was accepted into UCSD as undeclared, however, after checking the UCSD site and seeing this:

"Admission to a Biology Major within the Division of Biological Sciences
As of Spring 2013, all biology majors are open to undergraduate students. Any student may declare or change to one of the eight biology majors. Those who are admitted to UC San Diego, but not to one of the majors offered by the Division of Biological Sciences, may change majors once enrolled at UCSD."

When I emailed for a change of major, I got a generic email saying they couldn't handle my change of major request because my wanted major is impacted. The message taken from the UCSD site makes me think otherwise. I could change it manually, but WebReg isn't letting me do so right now. I'm thinking, since my official session starts in the fall, am I not technically enrolled until then?

I'm freaking out unnecessarily, I know. Ahaha...

But! To qualm my fears, can anyone tell me if I just have to wait until the school year has started to try and change my major? Or talk to a counselor? Or I'm reading that whole message wrong? Freaking out unnecessarily? //anxiety

Don’t freak out. Talk to a counselor.

You likely have to wait until you enroll in classes to change it. As long as the major isn’t impacted, changing you major is incredibly easy and can be done online. The biology major JUST became unimpacted at UCSD so it is highly unlikely that it will become impacted again before fall quarter =D Relax and just wait until school starts to change your major to biology.

The message you received was likely default from the last four years when the biology major was impacted.
