I say we all take a break for God’s sake please. And let them work on the website for let’s say … an hour, and then we all check, but we have to pledge that we will not check !!!

I’m from SoCal. If money is not an issue, I would pick USC over UCSD. USC’s alumni network is beyond compare, probably even better than UCLA. My daughter is already accepted at USC (Presidential scholarship finalist) and she went to USC for an overnight stay and interviewfor the scholarship. She’s now really considering it. But having said that, UCSD is also a good school, so your D really can’t go wrong either way.

Could they really not just host their website on AWS?

this is very frustrating…
i’ve been waiting since 2pm. it’s understandable that they’re having problems with the website…but i think the least they should do is let us know approximately when they’ll release the decisions instead of just leaving everyone hanging

I’ve been waiting and checking on and off since 12am this morning…

I wish they found a more efficient way to do this that minimizes the time we spend worrying and stressing.

@2018dad Thank you for that info. My daughter has net heard yet from USC, so I know even if she gets in, she will not get a scholarship. Money most likely will be an issue. She spent 5 weeks there last summer doing their acting intensive and fell in love with it. Their is definitely something about being a Trojan that is alluring. But besides the money issue, I worry a bit about safety. LMU seems like a much safer area. I expect more aid will come from LMU and Chapman since they are FAFSA only schools (I’m divorced and my husband has remarried).

I need to get an acceptence before i start bawling my eyes out at my other rejections. Praying

I must say I am really impressed with how efficiently Davis handled their updates and UCSC too. All was updated on time, even few hours before time. I observed this level of frustration only during Cal Poly.

does anybody know when the results will be out?

I talked to my friend who attends UCSD right now and he said he talked to a few people in the admissions office. Apparently, they are not posting decisions from the portal until monday.

@happilee wow I’m upset

@happilee

Any email notifications to be sent out?

ugh that sucks. is there any other way we can check our admissions?

Yeah, UCSC results were great. Putting them up so early definitely was smart. Also, doing things in batches. I was pretty impressed with Davis as well, seeing as they didn’t do things in batches yet everyone was able to see their results at roughly the same time.

Thinking results will be out tomorrow is probably too optimistic, so probably Monday at the earliest? idk

@happilee you’re kidding

Ugh. Don’t even know why I’m so anxious. UCSD’s not even my first choice.

@mrssoffel I’ve been to USC multiple times for the LA Book Fair. The campus is safe as long as you stay on the campus. I would not recommend leaving the campus after dark because USC is situated in a sketchy neighborhood. The school itself is great, but the location not so much. Also, USC is quite close to downtown so if your daughter expects to commute to mid-city LA, she should expect a lot of traffic.

That is what he facebook messaged me. I’m just as upset about it as anyone. :(

(as for emails, I have no idea)

Wow, while I am a bit surprised about the website problems (since they have been doing this for years and should know what to expect) I am more surprised by their lack of communication. I manage a few websites and can’t understand why they don’t change the landing page with a short update on the problem and an ETA to when results will be online. This would at a minimum reduce the anxiety for thousands (tens of thousands) of applicants, would reduce traffic on the server, and would reduce the pounding their image is taking by this. Maybe there will be a lot of internships available in the CS department next year? Next year, maybe they should release the results during the school week so students would not be able to log in all at once and so often. Just a thought.

Good luck to all.
